Escarcha Beheer B.V. · Version 2 · Effective date: 6 October 2026, together with version 2 of the Terms of Service and the Privacy Policy. This policy explains those documents; in the event of a difference, they prevail.
BUBLE requires a parent or legal guardian to set up and manage every child account. This policy explains what that authorization is, how it is given and how it ends. The full rules are in the Terms of Service (sections 2 and 3) and the Privacy Policy (sections 1 and 9).
1. Who can authorize
- Only a parent or legal guardian (“Parent”) of a child can create a child account, and only for their own child. Teachers and other adults cannot.
- A Parent must be at least 18 years old and have a verified e-mail address.
- We do not verify identity or the relationship to the child. The Parent’s declaration that they are the child’s parent or guardian is the basis on which the account is created; if it proves incorrect, we may suspend or delete the child account.
2. What the authorization is
- A child under 16 cannot enter into an agreement. By creating a child account, the Parent enters into the Terms of Service on their own behalf and on behalf of the child, and accepts the Privacy Policy for both. The child never accepts anything themselves.
- This authorization is the Parent acting as the child’s legal representative. It is not consent in the sense of Article 8 GDPR: the processing needed to run BUBLE rests on the agreement the Parent has entered into. At present no feature requires separate GDPR consent; if one is introduced, it will be asked for separately and can be withdrawn at any time.
- We apply the age of 16 throughout the EEA, even where national law allows a lower age.
3. How the authorization is given and documented
Authorization is given when the Parent:
- creates an adult account and verifies their e-mail address;
- accepts the Terms of Service and the Privacy Policy;
- creates the child profile, chooses its age group and links it to their own account.
We record each acceptance with the document version, the date and time, the method, the IP address and the app version, and keep that record for as long as the account exists and for two years after deletion. When the Terms or the Privacy Policy change materially, every adult user is asked to accept again before continuing to use the app.
4. What the Parent can do
- Approve and remove contacts, and link a teacher or a trusted person.
- Set the age group, a daily time limit, and switches for calling, location sharing, GIFs, posting moments, groups with strangers, read-along, location tracking and visibility in leaderboards.
- Propose another adult as co-guardian (co-parenting); once accepted, that adult has the same rights.
- View the child’s contacts, screen time for the day, moments (if the Parent is a contact of the child), and, when the switches are on, conversations and live location.
- Delete the child account at any time.
5. What the Parent is responsible for
By authorizing a child account the Parent accepts responsibility for the child’s safety, wellbeing and health while using BUBLE, for who the child is in contact with, for everything done through the child account, and for supervising and guiding the child (Terms of Service, section 3). What a Parent reads along may be used only for the safety and guidance of their own child and may not be kept, forwarded or shared.
6. Ending the authorization
- The Parent ends the authorization by deleting the child account via the Family tab. Deletion is immediate and irreversible; the Privacy Policy (section 9) lists what is erased.
- A Parent with children deletes each child account first and then, if they wish, their own account via Profile > Delete account.
- Requests about data, including access, correction and deletion, go to info@buble.app.
